In recent years, 3D printing’s groundbreaking technology has transformed many industries, including orthodontics. 3D printing involves creating three-dimensional objects by layering materials based on a digital model. In orthodontics, this technology enables the fabrication of dental appliances, such as aligners, retainers, and customised braces, with unparalleled precision and efficiency.
The primary purpose of 3D printing in orthodontics is to improve our patient outcomes and experiences. By utilising this technology, our Orthodontists can create personalised treatment plans tailored to each patient’s unique dental structure.
Accurate impressions of the teeth and jaws are essential for orthodontic treatment to be planned and performed successfully.
We are proud to utilise the latest in intra oral scanning technology by utilising the state of the art – iTero Lumina intra oral scanner.
With Intra Oral Scanning, a small wand-shaped device is waved around the mouth to take 3D scans of the teeth. When using the scanner, this process is a completely mess free, comfortable and highly accurate method of taking impressions. Best of all, it eliminates the need for uncomfortable full mouth putty moulds.
